Will Donnie be defeated or will Kamala have to try again next time? Will the Dems take control of the House? Will voters accept or reject efforts to reform the criminal justice system? So many questions will be answered by the results of tomorrow night's election. Perhaps the biggest question of them all is: Have you made your voice heard?
Looking to 2024
The SCOTUS allowed Virginia’s Republican governor to purge 1,600 voters from the rolls on suspicion that they are non-citizens just a week before the election. While there is no database of US citizens to check against and citizens were expected to step forward and confirm their citizenship, many included in the 1,600 were indeed born and raised in the US or naturalized citizens. BTW, the notion of non-US citizens voting in this country is not really a thing.
Moving over to Pennsylvania, the SCOTUS rejected GOP efforts to block provisional ballots cast by voters whose mail-in ballots were rejected for technical errors. The first rule in the GOP election playbook is clearly “If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying.”
How are you going one election and still reminiscing about the old one? In another rambling speech, Donnie said he regrets leaving the White House in 2021, despite losing. In the same speech, he also said anyone else attempting to assassinate him would have to shoot through the media to get to him and that he was okay with “fake news” reporters getting shot.
VP Harris is currently leading in Iowa, a state Trump won in the last 2 elections. At the same time, some polls suggest support for Harris largely trails behind what Biden had in 2020. Who’s really going to come out on top tomorrow?
Some races will have a greater effect than others to determine which party will take control of each chamber of Congress in 2025. Here’s a few to pay attention to.
2020 saw a lot of strides made in criminal justice reform after the murder of George Floyd. 2024’s election will determine whether the country is ready to keep going or turn back.
Keeping Up with Biden & Harris
When will the people just tell Joe to go sit in a corner? In an effort to appeal to Latino voters and unify the electorate, the POTUS slipped up (or maybe not) and called Trump supporters garbage. The White House tried to clear up Biden’s latest gaffe with their transcript of his speech, but the side-eyes have already side-eyed.
Colleen Shogan, a Biden appointee in charge of the country’s most important documents, is facing criticism for her choice to whitewash US history at the National Archives Museum in an effort to make (white) visitors feel welcome. Some of the parts of history she’s chosen to remove at the museum include references to Martin Luther King, Japanese internment during WWII, birth control, and the removal of Native American tribes from their lands. Just imagine how far this would go under a Republican president.
Shocking no one, Israel is ignoring the US’ most recent ultimatum to either increase the aid sent to Gaza or risk an arms embargo.
Further proving Israel is the pimp in this relationship, the US warned Iran that it won’t be able to restrain Israel if Iran were to launch another attack.
Congress, What’s Good
Congress will have a pretty big agenda next year between deciding what to do with Trump’s tax cuts, subsidies for Obamacare, the debt ceiling, and potentially long term funding for the government. What—and how easily—things get done will depend largely on whether control is consolidated under one party or split between the two.

Do y’all remember Jordan Neely, a young man experiencing a mental health episode on the subway last year, and Daniel Penny, the white former Marine that took upon himself to “protect the other passengers” by killing Jordan? Opening arguments for Penny’s manslaughter trial are expected to begin today.

Culture that Pops
With the passing of Quincy Jones yesterday, we lost a musical giant with one of the most storied careers ever. How many people can say they produced MJ’s “Thriller,” arranged songs for Ella Fitzgerald, introduced the world to Tevin Campbell, and received an apology from Tupac to settle their differences? If that ain’t legendary status…
